About Ida Chef at Caoba Cafe

About Ida
Chef at Caoba Café

(In her own words)

So I am from Sweden, 33 years old and have always been very interested in health. I have always been doing physical activities through out my life and the interest for food has always been there. It got to a deeper level when I lived in Norway for a few years, and was working as a manager in a healthy fast food cafe. There I got more insight into more healthy food, smoothies and juices, all kind of super foods, like al and algae, wheat grass, etc..

After that time I also realized I am sensitive to gluten. So I started to cook a little bit different and got introduced to raw food which really is fun and so tasty. Raw food is food which is not heated up more than 42° (to keep vitamins that will disappear if you heat the food more, just a brief info) and it do not include meat, diary or gluten products. But lots of vegetables, seeds and nuts.

Since then I have realized how much better my body feels with this type of diet.
But I don’t only eat raw food, I do warm meals as well and as I said I eat seafood and meat sometimes.
I also cook my own müsli and bread.  I like to try new recipe or experiment in the kitchen.

I think it is important to not eat just because you ”have" to eat, but to be thankful for what you can get on you plate and explore your cooking among the lovely variety of vegetables, salads and fruits we have in the world, especially to use the local things that are available were you are at the moment. These type of ingredients are so full of vitamins and gives many health benefits for the body and the digestion system as well. To be aware of what you put in your mouth and think if it will nourish your body is my way of thinking!
Food can be such a powerful form of medicine for your body!
There is so many ways of make vegetables tasty! Sometimes just a simple way of cooking is the best. It all depends on what I have to cook with, my mood, my guests and what my body is asking for. I try to listen to what my body desires.

I have a bachelor in health promotion and almost done with 2 years of master in International health, I am a yoga teacher (I have the Yoga Alliance 200 hour certificate)  and traveler :) I love to share my passion of a holistic healthy life style.
I love to cook and share good healthy food with people, to make people explore new colorful things on their plate.

The food I cook is always made with a healthy thought and lots of love and only natural ingredients (not processed) and I very seldom use sugar (like never).

I am so lucky to be able to cook in Caoba Farms, it's like to being in a dream to have a variety of ingredients to play with (especially since it all is organic as well) and I hope is to share my passion for cooking and make people able to enjoy my food at the lovely and beautiful Caoba Farms new Café.

With my holistic thinking of health is that every thing is connected, your body, mind and soul.
Not only to eat healthy is important for your health but also to eat with awareness and be present (mindful eating), to look at what you are eating, taste it, smell it and slowly enjoy it. I love to decorate a plate extra nice since we all eat with our eyes as much as we uses other senses. Balance and harmony with body and soul is whats keeps you healthy and it also involve to have a physical active lifestyle.

Its like a dream come true to be able to work with one of my biggest passion in life and so lovely to be able to share it with people that will come to Caoba Farms and enjoy a healthy lunch in that lovely and harmonic surrounding, that can only be nursing for the soul of those who comes!

Caoba Kids Club Activities

Caoba Kids Club Activities

Caoba Farms loves when children participate in activities and share with us on the farm. There´s nothing like seeing a child´s eyes when they discover something new at the farm, like havesting their own carrots or petting the rabbits and goat in our petting zoo. In these time it´s important to invole our children in outdoor activities which involves them creating and experimenting with their own hads. Because of this we created the Caoba Farms Kids Club. Among the activities we have are the following:
  • Petting Zoo - Free
  • Painting workshop - Q30
  • Canival egg workshop - Q30
  • Magic Workshop -Q30
  • Pintacarita (prices between Q5 to Q15)
